As the title suggests, the content of the book speaks to becoming exceptional.  You’ll learn what leadership is, and what is needed to affect change in someone else.

Being an exceptional leader is an even higher level of leadership that involves mastering four specific traits – Sacrifice, Empowerment, Love and Friendship.

The Sting of Friendship. Reason to Read #23

Scorpions as playthings?  You bet!  I grew up in the Sonoran Desert.  Scorpions, tarantulas and snakes were my playthings.

Scorpion | leadership | Friendship

In my upcoming book, SELF Centered Leadership: Becoming Influential, Intentional and Exceptional, I write about an experience I had with my friend, Debbie, when I was 11 years old.   This experience has something to do with scorpions; and it’s an experience that still stings even today.

The book will be available in paperback and on Kindle very soon.  I’ll keep you posted.

There are many, many reasons to read the book, and I’ve provided reason 23 today – the ways that friendship can sting.  If you haven’t read the other reasons in my countdown, you can click on any of the following links.

In the meantime, enjoy a song from the SCORPIONS.  I think my book will rock you like a hurricane!

Reason #24: Leadership Defined in ONE Word

A few years ago, I used social media to ask a question:

“If you had to define leadership in one word, what word would it be?”

Think about it….is it possible to define leadership in one word?  The answers I received were from all over the world.  I have combined some of them into a Wordle…. Leadership | Definition | Navigating Your Fishbowl Would you add your own one-word definition to the Wordle?  What would it be?

In my upcoming book, SELF Centered Leadership: Becoming Influential, Intentional and Exceptional, I give you the ONE word I discovered that defines leadership in every circumstance and from every perspective.

Wanna know what that word is?  (hint – it’s NOT in the Wordle) The book will be out soon!  Learning the ONE word that defines leadership is reason #24 for reading my book.

Will the Real Hero Please Stand Up? – Reason #25

Action Hero City | Jackie Bailey

Man Saves Baby from Burning Building

Woman Pulls Stranger from Car Wreck

Young Boy Calls 911 and Saves His Fathers Life

These are feel-good headlines.  They often give us pause to reflect on what our own actions might be if we found ourselves in the same circumstance.

We don’t have to perform tremendous feats to be leadership heroes.  In leadership, we can be heroic by taking the action necessary to ensure the right outcome.

In my upcoming book, SELF Centered Leadership: Becoming Influential, Intentional and Exceptional, I will provide you with ways to become heroic in your leadership.  That is reason 25 in my 30-reason countdown.

In my book I share examples of three individuals who became heroic simply by using their influence with intentional action.  YOU can be a leadership hero, too!

If you’d like to know when the book comes out, please comment below to be included on my mailing list.  You’ll get special offers and discounts for being one of those “list” people!

Overcoming Regrets: Reason #26 for Reading SELF Centered Leadership

On this day before Thanksgiving here in America, I thought it appropriate to talk about a nemesis of gratitude.  Regret.

Corn and wheat

We all have regrets.  Although regret tends to be a negative-energy emotion, it can inspire change.

In my book, SELF Centered Leadership: Becoming Influential, Intentional and Exceptional, I tell you about my greatest regret.

The story has to do with friends and bullies; protection and victimization; courage and fear.  Perhaps it will inspire you.

Have you missed reasons 27 through 30 in my countdown?

Reason #30: How to prepare for, and survive an ODYSSEY

Reason #29: How to spot the IMITATION

Reason #28: How to use an APP to make tough decisions

Reason #27: How to Apply The Three P’s of Empowerment

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!  Be grateful for your challenges – they form your character and inspire growth!

Empowerment With Three P’s

In October 2013, Forbes Magazine published The World’s Most Powerful People.  The list of 72 were mostly government leaders, entrepreneurs, and wealthy CEO’s.

I wasn’t on that list, and I suspect you weren’t either.  Is being powerful really that cool?  It might be if you didn’t have to worry about someone coming along who is even more powerful and taking your power from you.

Even greater than POWER is EMPOWERMENT.  I discuss Empowerment at length in my upcoming book, SELF Centered Leadership: Becoming Influential, Intentional and Exceptional.

Reason #27 to read my book is that I provide you THE THREE P’s OF EMPOWERMENT.

You can be Empowered no matter what challenges you face; and no matter what your circumstance.  The way to empower yourself is to apply THE THREE P’s.

Read my book to find out what they are!

In case you missed the other reasons to read my upcoming book, I have the links here for you…

Reason #30: How to prepare for, and survive an ODYSSEY

Reason #29: How to spot the IMITATION

Reason #28: How to use an APP to make tough decisions.

Tough decision? There’s An APP for That!

Life.  It’s a daily process of decision making.

  1. Should I wear blue or green?
  2. Should I drive to work or ride my bike?
  3. Should I quit my job and go live on the beach in Hawaii?  Or, maybe Tahiti?

Hawaii

Rory Vaden may call you a Should-Head for asking those questions.   He is the author of one of my favorite books, Take the Stairs.

Making decisions can be tough.  Sometimes, it’s not a matter of good versus bad.  Sometimes, making a decision is a matter of good, better and best.

I address the task of good, better and best decision making in my upcoming book SELF Centered Leadership: Becoming Influential, Intentional and Exceptional.  I share an APP to help you determine which option is the best one when faced with a decision.

Having access to my APP is reason #28 for reading my book.  It will be available soon.

I realize that you may have another daily decision to make:

  • Should I read Jackie’s book or not?

Since you won’t have the APP to help you with your decision until you get the book, I have begun a countdown of reasons WHY you should read SELF Centered Leadership: Becoming Influential, Intentional and Exceptional.

Reason #30: How to prepare for, and survive an ODYSSEY

Reason #29: How to spot the IMITATION

(Be sure to use the links to read previous posts)

And today’s reason, #28: How to use an APP to make tough decisions.

More reasons to come.  But for now, have a successful decision-making day!  See you in Hawaii?
