Reason Five Reveals Five Imitators of Happiness

We are surrounded by imitations, fakes and counterfeits.  Some of them look so much like the original that it’s difficult to perceive the hoax.

Food, video games, fabric, jewelry, money, even communication can be counterfeit.  These can all be imitation versions of the real thing.

Fake money

These imitations are the cause of unhappiness because we can believe they are true, only to find that not only are they false, but possibly dangerous.

In my book, SELF Centered Leadership, I identify Five Imitators of Happiness that we should be wary of.  This is likely an unexpected list, because you are probably being fooled by the items on my list.

Knowing where the counterfeits are helps us to begin to live a more genuine life.  Reading my book will help you do that.

Service is the Best Medicine – Reason #6

The Unlimited Love Institute researched the question: “Does the unselfish love of others contribute to the happiness, health and resilience of those who give it?”

They discovered the answer is YES!  They report:

“….Contributing to the lives of others allows those who love their neighbor to flourish by living an active life free from preoccupation with the self…self destructive emotions, lack of purpose, loneliness or isolation”.

The Jewish philosopher Martin Buber noted, “…We can pretend that we are the center of the universe, and fail; …or we can relate to others in love and respect.”

In my book, I testify using personal experience how SERVICE and LOVE kept me alive!  Service was a medicine that healed.

Martin Luther King Jr. noted, “Everybody can be great….because anybody can serve.  You don’t have to have a college degree to serve.  You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve.  You only need a heart full of grace.  A soul generated by love.”

If you appreciate the sentiments of the Unlimited Love Institute, Martin Buber and Martin Luther King, Jr., then you will LOVE chapter four in my book, SELF Centered Leadership.

Provide a Healthy Smile – Reason #10 to Read My Book!

Smile | Empowerment | Oral CancerIn my book, SELF Centered Leadership, I identify five imitators of happiness.  One of those imitators is Tobacco.  Tobacco use is the number one risk factor for oral cancer. The fastest growing segment of oral cancer patients are 25-50 years old.

Tobacco is a substance that DOES NOT EMPOWER you by using it.  In fact, using it may make you POWERLESS to an ugly, debilitating and deadly cancer.

You can learn about the other four imitators of happiness by reading my book.  You can also help the Oral Cancer Cause Foundation with their mission –  to improve the quality of life for oral cancer patients through financial support so that they may face the world with peace and dignity during and after medical treatment.

How does buying my book help OCC?   When you purchase my book (or anything else) at www.smile.amazon.com and choose ORAL CANCER CAUSE when prompted, Amazon will donate 5% of your purchase to OCC.

That’s EMPOWERMENT!  It’s also reason 10 of 30 to read SELF Centered Leadership.  Buy it and read it today!

Oh…..remember to smile!

“How Can I Help?” – Reason #11 to Read SELF Centered Leadership

How many times have you said to someone, “Let me know if I can help….”?

If you’re like most people (me included), you have good intentions to help another, but there are times when you really don’t know what you can do.

How many times has someone actually responded with a way you can help?  It’s very common for the one on the intended receiving end to also not know how you can help.  Quite a dilemma indeed.

There is a section in my book called “The Rest of the Story”.  In this part of SELF Centered Leadership, I offer many practical ways you can help someone in need.  This is reason #11 to read my book.  You can actually make good on your good intentions!

Go ahead, ask me if there is anything you can do for me………

Well, thank you for asking!  Yes!  I would be ever so grateful if you were to purchase a few copies of my book and gift one to yourself and the rest to others.  You would be doing a great kindness to me, setting yourself on a worthwhile course, AND providing a valuable gift to someone else.

Last of all – please remember to write a review on AMAZON after you’ve made your purchase.

Tomorrow, I will post reason #10!  I am almost done with my 30 Reasons to Read Countdown!  I hope you have found this countdown helpful, and that you find my book a worthwhile read.  If you’re still not convinced to buy it, there are 10 more reasons coming!  Stay tuned……

Reason #14 – Prepare for Winter Conditions

In my book, SELF Centered Leadership: Becoming Influential, Intentional and Exceptional, I tell a very personal story about my son, Cory and an experience he had in sub-freezing temperatures.

This is a picture with me and my children, Holly and Cory, and Holly’s children Sam and Miles.

Empowerment | Snow

Cory’s story is in my chapter about EMPOWERMENT.  Cory was not empowered during his experience because he had not applied the three P’s of Empowerment.

My book will help you prepare for those winter conditions that we all experience literally or figuratively.  It’s about becoming empowered instead of powerless.

Reason #16 for reading SELF Centered Leadership

This time of year, we are more familiar with CHARITY.  We see examples of people doing good deeds for others unselfishly and anonymously.  I think these charitable acts inspire the “spirit” of Christmas that we often hear about, and look so forward to feeling.

How do we have that charitable, brotherly love?

In my book, SELF Centered Leadership, I spend am entire chapter talking about love – charitable, brotherly love.  Wouldn’t it be great to feel that “spirit” all year long?

If you read my book, you’ll learn how!

SELF Centered Leadership: Becoming Influential, Intentional and Exceptional is available NOW on Amazon in paperback and Kindle.  Check it out!

After your purchase, be sure to write a review!  I want to know how the book influenced your SELF!
